Our residence is located in a rural area, not urban by any means. At night it is very dark outside. One night, I needed something from the car. I turned on the outside light, and prepared myself to venture into the dark. I ran to the car and opened the door. I entered, glad to survive the 40 foot walk from the house to the car. Suddenly, however, feelings changed. The car started shaking and an animal was banging on the rear window making noise. The interior lights were on so I could not see outside. I was terrified. Is it a bear, I thought. Clueless to the situation, I opened the window slightly and let out a meager yell to attempt scaring the bear away. The shaking and noise continued. "I am going to die," I thought. This is it. I am as good as dead. I could see it in the papers now: Boy eaten by bear in car.
I suddenly heard laughing. The shaking stopped. My dad was hysterical. He had just gotten home from work and took the opportunity to scare the life out of me. The powerful man shook the car and slammed the window to scare me. It worked. The story never escapes a gathering of friends. I still have not gotten him back yet.
Has there ever been a time when you were scared or startled? It helps to get it out and be heard.
