On the positive side, I also experienced a nice thing today. Someone casually said hello to me. I do not know them well but, the gesture made my day brighter. Sometimes, just saying hello or acknowledging someone can make a real difference in their day. It was nice.
Why?
Freedom of speech.
Do we not all have something to say?
Get it out.
Its about being heard

The good and bad
Toady I noticed something that should not be accepted in modern society. Someone was chewing gum like a cow! Wow. It was really bad and I was actually somewhat insulted. It seems to be proper for one to eat and chew gum with their mouth closed, not gaping open for all to see. I think that in this day in age, people should realize that chewing like a cow is rude and inappropriate in public. The only obvious advantage that I can see might be the strengthening of jaw muscles? There, I got it out and exercised my freedom of speech.

This is actually a kind of funny post because when I was in grade school, many students had this problem. It was really disgusting, and sometimes when they talked, the gum fell out of their mouth and onto the ground or whatever was underneath them. Some people don't even know how to talk with gum in their mouth. Besides the fact that people would put gum under the desks, that is one of the reasons we were not allowed to chew gum in middle school. I think people are getting better with it now, but you just brought up some funny memories!
ReplyDeleteSo today in class Collen pointed out that I didn't type in the security code when commenting on someone's post. Now upon further examination it is apparent that I have frequently neglected to verify my post. Those codes are stupid...anyway...I think venting about pet peeves is the perfect way to express your freedom of speech. Open mouth gum chewing is both rude and gross. we do not need to see the inside of your mouth. What is even worse are the people who stick gum on things. Is it so hard to throw it in the garbage so I don't accidentally touch it under the desk! I think in middle school or high school an etiquette course should be taught teaching people appropriate ways to act in public.
